Back to Blogging

Back to blogging and so happy to post these photos.  It was a sad day for me when I drove past one of my favourite shops 33 Degree’s and saw the closing down sign.  I adore Michelle’s taste at 33 Degree’s and we were always talking of getting photo’s done and we finally did it. Thanks Michelle and the wonderful little models that came out for the day.   Some of the photos will be used for Michelle’s online store in the future.

Portfolio Building aka Nina’s Bootcamp and Holidays

It is the middle of June already wow that has gone fast.   The last three weeks have been fabulous.  First off , it has been nearly 18 years since I last saw a very dear friend who I met at UNE many moons ago.  Thanks to Facebook we reconnected and thanks to many hours spent chatting Jen shared her passion to become a photographer.  I had organised a model shoot out at Gunn Point Prison and asked her to come up and help me for mostly to be my voice activated tripod.  So leaving her 4 children behind Jen headed up to Darwin to help me and to attend my first bootcamp.

Portfolio building, learning her camera and moving off the automatic button  and being able to use her camera in manual.  How to pose kids for photos.  How to pose newborns.  How to edit the photos, developing her own style.  I also introduced Jen to off camera flash work something that Jen really loves.    By the end of the week I am so proud of Jen reading the light and being able to set up her camera to take the photos all in one quick action.    A big thanks to Jen for being such a brilliant voice activated tripod.   And a very special mention to all the wonderful models and their families for allowing us to take their photos.

A little poem that Jen put together.

Nina and Jen, together again, plenty of shots per day, well what can i say,
with newborns and bellies,
kids and some girlies,
avoiding the mozzies, the sun and the glare,
fix the makeup, tidy that hair,
the poses that we moulded
the models that we scolded
the shots that we took
should put all in a book
but here they are for all to see
our little art of photography

School holidays are upon us now and I am going away on holidays.  Nina K Photography is closed until the 6th of July.  I am already taking bookings from the 12 of July.  I am also taking bookings for Christmas photos so if you would like to confirm your spot now I would highly recommend it now.

Have a safe school holidays and will be back with some more photos of our trip

Teddy Nina K Photography Darwin Photographer

Clothing and props play a integral part in photography especially when photographing children.  Sometimes keeping it simple adds more.  This is why I love this next set of photos, with the inclusion of a very much loved teddy bear.

With the nearly completed studio I put a shout out on my facebook fan page for three free maternity sessions.  Stunning mum to be Stacey came out and isn’t she just glowing.

Channelling the Rock

One of my favourite models visited us on Friday.  I had just finished setting up for a maternity session when she came in to the studio.  So I asked her if she could help me check the lights by sitting in the chair, of course she did, so I thought she would like to try on a tutu some pearls but that was not the case we had to go rock chic.   So we quickly put together this look and Miss A channeled the rock.
